Women are considered multi-potent and much of their responsibility is assigned right from the time of her birth. She is first expected to learn to become a house maker, before she aspires to become something else because it is believed, ultimately, she must be a good house maker- making things organize the house, take care of the children, husbands, and in-laws., etc. Although the story might differ in case the parents and in-laws of the girl are progressive-minded, otherwise, this is the decorum that every girl must follow.

These unwanted expectations for girls put them in a degrading situation for life. Throughout her growing-up years, she is conditioned to believe that there are limitations to their capabilities. They cannot supersede men and anyhow she must depend on men for sustaining life. Thus, it is easy to answer why women underestimate their capabilities and put blind faith in the men members of the family.

Women have to sacrifice their education for efficiently playing the role of a decent house maker, which makes the roots of patriarchy stronger and sets a ground for domestic violence and related abuses.
However, my observation says, a woman is more likely to prevent herself from any kind of abuse if she focuses on her career as well and earns a decent amount of income. This creates a psychological impact in the minds of both women and their family members — Women gain confidence in their abilities, and they longer have to depend on the male members of their family for their necessities. This also pumps confidence to leave any toxic relationship and survive on her own. Family members to learn to respect her individuality as they believe she cannot be suppressed.

As the spread of education is getting wider, women have led the area which was earlier a male-dominant area. This is a welcome development but there a lot remains to be done to create awareness among women to stand-up for her rights so that she can live a dignified life.
